Schneider Auto Karosserie’s owner Margrit Schneider has always been conscious of her individual impact on the environment. She is an avid gardener, and has recycled and composted for as long as she can remember. In 2010 she took unprecedented steps to transition her auto body shop, traditionally a grimy and sometimes even toxic zone, into a clean, environmentally-conscious business and regional industry leader in recycling and waste management.

Schneider Auto switched to water-based paint products, which not only reduce harmful emissions into the ozone but also better match your car’s original paint. It also created a recycling system to reduce waste from automotive parts, steel, aluminum, rubber, and plastics.

“It’s always been a priority to reduce, reuse and recycle as much as possible personally” Schneider said. “Extending that to Schneider Auto Karosserie just made sense, and it saves us money!”

To further reduce its carbon footprint, Schneider Auto began participating in the Rocky Mountain Blue Sky Program, purchasing renewable energy credits to help reduce carbon dioxide emissions – the equivalent of taking 15,000 miles of car travel off of our roads and helping to “Clear The Air.”

Even the smallest opportunity to effectuate change was not overlooked to help reduce, reuse, and recycle. Front-of-house began purchasing eco-friendly supplies and products, from LED light bulbs to recycled paper and the installation of a low water usage toilet.

In 2011, Schneider Auto was certified as an e2 business and Utah’s first green auto body repair shop.

Going Green. Being Green. Staying Green.More recent efforts include adding skylights, insulated doors, and programmable thermostats throughout the shop; recycling efforts continue, as does the gardening, and making environmentally-conscious decisions a priority to all staff.

Schneider Auto believes firmly that this is an important step in serving its customers and the greater community in a dedicated effort to fulfill its mission of making customers happy – and healthier!
